Content Governance Program Manager, IT Change Management
Location: Mountain View, CA / San Diego
Your Role:
As the Content Governance Program Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of our content governance strategy. This includes:
- Program Leadership & Execution:
- Lead and manage the program to implement the new content governance model, including defining project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Drive the execution of various workstreams across multiple teams (e.g., IT, Communications, subject matter experts) ensuring alignment and timely completion of tasks.
- Establish and manage program-level reporting to track progress, identify risks, and communicate status to stakeholders and leadership.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and decision-making processes to advance program objectives.
- Content Governance Framework Implementation:
- Operationalize the new content governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures for content creation, review, approval, publishing, maintenance, and archiving/retirement.
- Define and document clear roles and responsibilities for content ownership, stewardship, and maintenance across different employee-facing content repositories.
- Implement and optimize content lifecycle management processes, including regular content audits, quality checks, and mechanisms for identifying and updating out-of-sync or outdated information.
- Work with technical teams to identify and potentially implement tools or technologies that support content governance and accessibility.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management:
- Act as the central point of contact for all matters related to the content governance program.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments to ensure buy-in, address concerns, and facilitate smooth adoption of new processes.
- Develop and deliver training and support materials to educate employees and content contributors on the new governance model and best practices.
- Champion the importance of content governance and drive a culture of content accuracy and accountability.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the content governance model (e.g., content accuracy, timeliness of updates, employee satisfaction with communications).
- Monitor and analyze content performance and governance adherence, identifying areas for improvement.
- Iterate on processes and guidelines based on feedback and performance data to ensure the ongoing success and efficiency of the governance model.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Information Management, Project Management, Business Administration, IT, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in project or program management, with a proven track record of successfully leading complex, cross-functional initiatives related to information management, content strategy and governance, or digital asset lifecycle management from strategy to execution.
- Demonstrable experience in developing and/or implementing content governance frameworks, content strategy, or knowledge management systems.
- Strong understanding of content lifecycle management principles and best practices as well as related concepts such as modularized content, taxonomies, and metadata.
- Experience working within an IT department or on IT-related projects, with an understanding of change management principles and their impact on employee communications.
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to drive teams towards common goals and ensure accountability for deliverables.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- PMP, PgMP, or other relevant project/program management certification.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS), knowledge bases, or collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, ServiceNow Knowledge).
- Familiarity with change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci ADKAR).
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
- A proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong sense of ownership.
