The Associate Vineyard Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of vineyard operations, supporting the Vineyard Manager in achieving strategic goals while upholding a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include coordinating daily operations, implementing viticulture practices, and ensuring adherence to EH&S standards. The Associate Vineyard Manager collaborates closely with the Vineyard Manager to optimize resource utilization, manage labor, and drive performance metrics. Additionally, this role involves data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform decision-making and foster continuous improvement throughout the vineyard. Responsibilities include leadership duties such as demonstrating exceptional leadership, modeling company values, collaborating with the Vineyard Manager and the team to foster a culture of respect, safety, and continuous improvement, assisting in recruiting, retaining, and managing direct reports, organizing daily work programs, overseeing labor crews, and ensuring optimal resource utilization and highest quality of work. The role also involves grape supply and quality management, including liaising with stakeholders to ensure grape demand and quality meet required characteristics, supporting technical programs, managing budgets, coordinating harvest planning and logistics, defining irrigation programs, evaluating viticultural processes and equipment, and contributing to property and machinery maintenance. The Associate Vineyard Manager encourages a culture of health and safety, manages spray programs, supports regulatory record-keeping, participates in continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, manages business performance metrics, maintains industry expertise and licensing, and performs other duties as required. Minimum qualifications include a B.S. in agriculture, viticulture, or related field or equivalent experience, 2-5 years of industry experience, technical viticulture knowledge, willingness to work overtime and irregular shifts, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and bilingual English/Spanish skills. Preferred qualifications include initiative, confident communication, effective time management, strong organizational skills, and experience fostering collaboration. Physical requirements include working outdoors/indoors in various climates, exposure to noise and chemicals, ability to move up to 45 lbs, and ability to sit or stand for long periods.
