The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating and conducting all sprint ceremonies, supporting 2-4 software engineering teams at FreedomPay. This includes running daily standups, sprint planning, facilitation of sprint retrospectives, and sprint reviews. The primary role is facilitation of the Agile Scrum process, by supporting a team of engineers and analysts through work prioritization, coordination and removing blockers. The Scrum Master works closely with the Product Management team, Team Lead developer and Software Development Managers to ensure sprint deliverables are on track and current development activity aligns with Product Roadmap and priorities. Primary Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Guides the assigned team(s) and organization on how to leverage Agile/Scrum practices and values to maximize the delivery of business value. Influences team, departments and organization-wide Agile adoption, standards and maturity Tracks and publishes prescribed team metrics including velocity, team burndown and capacity. Exhibits ability to analyze collected data and present findings/trends to stakeholders Serves as a liaison between engineering leadership and teams helping to align strategic priorities and objectives with execution plans, timelines and overall delivery of value to the organization Guides the team on applying self-organizing, self-corrective behaviors; analyzing and adapting to the feedback inputs (eg. Metrics, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, etc.), all for the purpose of building high performing teams. Proactively identifies and solves systemic impediments and blockers to overall team and department success, and provides strategic recommendations for the team to engineering managers and leadership Empowers teams to self-organize and take ownership of work Builds a trusting environment where issues are raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on correcting and problem solving. Facilitates the completion of assignments efficiently and without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. Champions and exemplifies collaborative discussion, decision making, and problem solving. Provides coaching and guidance to other Scrum Masters in identifying and adopting best practices to maximize team productivity, effectiveness and growth Drives consistent standards, practices and methods for internal communication, improving transparency, and radiating information to all involved stakeholders Coordinates and encourages participation from all team members in scrum ceremonies (Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer term planning exercises (Road Mapping, Release Planning) Supports the Product Management team in applying the scrum framework and agile principles, and help in refining and maintaining the product backlog. Coordinates with project managers, product owners, in the identification and mitigation of project risks. Serves as a mentor to more junior members of the Scrum/Agile teams Advanced understanding of applying team assessments to determine team maturity with Agile Development concepts Required Skills and Qualifications Strong understanding of the Agile Manifesto, principles, and values, and the ability to teach/mentor other Agilists and Development Teams Mastery of multiple Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, XP, etc...) and expertise in evaluating and applying the proper framework(s) in diverse and challenging environments Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle Experience as a Scrum Lead for 3-8 years for a software development team utilizing Agile/Scrum principles. Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency. Ability to anticipate issues based on experience to help the team avoid or resolve the issues. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills including active listening. Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar ticket and project tracking software Advanced experience with organizing and Product Backlog, Delivery Plans, and Capacity Plans Strong experience and familiarity with team collaboration tools such as MS Teams, Confluence, Monday.com Knowledge of and/or experience with writing effective user stories and acceptance criteria.
