· Pay Rate: Rate may vary due to local or non-local contracted rates: $ 50-52/ HR combined Rate of pay. ( Pay packages are a combination of taxable hourly rates, tax free allowances for travel, housing, and meal allowances) ( Rates are subject to change via client need)

Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary:

The Pediatric PACU Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, family-centered care to pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical or diagnostic procedures. This role requires specialized knowledge in pediatric assessment, airway management, and post-operative care to ensure the safe and effective recovery of patients ranging from newborns to adolescents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess pediatric patients recovering from general, regional, or local anesthesia.

• Provide age-appropriate care including pain management, vital signs monitoring, airway maintenance, and emotional support.

• Recognize and respond to emergency situations, such as respiratory distress or cardiac compromise.

• Administer medications, including sedatives, analgesics, and emergency drugs, in accordance with physician orders and protocols.

• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

• Provide education and discharge instructions to families and caregivers tailored to the developmental level of the child.

• Ensure proper documentation of care, assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

• Maintain infection control and safety standards in compliance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.

• Support and reassure patients and families throughout the perioperative process.

Qualifications:

• Required Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.

• Licensure/Certifications:

  • Current RN license state-specific

  • BLS, PALS required

  • ACLS preferred

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of pediatric or PACU/critical care nursing experience preferred

  • Strong pediatric assessment and critical thinking skills

• Proficiency in pediatric airway management and pain assessment

• Compassionate, family-focused communication

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

• Strong team collaboration and decision-making skills

• Knowledge of pediatric developmental stages and their implications for care
